Samsung has announced a new WiMAX-enabled smartphone to be launched in the US, called the Samsung Mondi.
The device features both WiMAX and WiFi radios, as well as a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and 4.3 inch touchscreen. Running on Windows 6.1 Professional, the smartphone also features a 3.0-megapixel camera, GPS (Route 66), Bluetooth 2.0, HDMI video-out and 4GB of on-board storage. Furthermore, the device will be fully customizable with drag-and-drop widgets.
The Mondi is offers a full range of multimedia features that offer instant access to mobile email, mobile broadband, video content and business applications. The Mondi’s web browser is powered by Opera 9.5, and the device also supports various services including Fring™, Gypsii™, and MS Live Messenger.

The Mondi is expected to be released in a single shade of black. Pricing and availability information have yet to be revealed.
